Kyoto
Up at the crack of dawn, a good breakfast, then out the door for a day of sightseeing around Kyoto: Ryoanji Temple, Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavillion), big buffet lunch, Imperial Palace, shopping at Teramachi. Dinner was back at the youth hostel. Buses, subway, and LOTS of walking. Ice cream, too.
