Heading Home

Sunrise over Nanao Bay.  We are meeting at the train station in 45 minutes to begin our journey home so this most likely will the last post from Japan.  We'll be in Monterey and home in just under 24 hours.  See you at the airport!

Thank you, Nanao, for all of your kind hospitality and memorable experiences for our children!

Saturday Farewell

Today was our final full day in Nanao and all the students stayed with their respective families, so please forgive the lack of photos from today.  After a morning of fishing for octopus (Sharron, 3, Dana 1), we were treated to a wonderful home-cooked lunch by Mr. Shimizu's parents.  On the way back to our hotel did a bit of souvenir shopping at a local tackle shop and home center.

The Farewell Party went off very well.  The kids' performance was GREAT!  They did you, Junior Wings, and themselves very proud.  Everyone truly enjoyed their dancing, including the music director who has been helping the Nanao kids with their performances over the past several years.  We will post a video as soon as it is available.

These past 10 days have been an intense whirlwind of activity, emotion, and excitement.  While none of us want it to end, I think we are all looking forward to beginning our journey home so we can tell you all about how great this experience has been.
