Wajima

Today started out in thick pea soup fog, but by 8:00AM it was bright, sunny, and again, HOT!  The news this morning showed another typhoon is on its way and this one may get us wet.  No danger or concern, just rain come Thursday.  All the students got on the charter bus this morning with great stories to tell about their first night at their partner's home.  All is well, and all are eating and bathing.  The bus took us to the north end of the Noto Peninsula to the town of Wajima where we toured the morning market, tried our hand at "maki-e" lacquer painting, and ate a delicious lunch put on by one of the Wajima Jaycees.  The drive back south was through a beautiful rural valley, then along the Japan sea coast.  We stopped at Ganmon where we stretched our legs, took a 20-min boat ride, and had some delicious ice cream.  We ended the day at the 100 Yen shop in the local department store in Nanao.
