July 31 Meeting

Our Nanao partners are only 10 days away now!  If you couldn't make it to last night's meeting, please review the presentation.  Things to note:

Friday, Aug. 3: Tea Ceremony.  Meet at 10:15am at the Russells' house at 901 Alameda Ave.  We will carpool to the tea house in Pebble Beach.  Wear CLEAN WHITE SOCKS and a minimum of jewelry.  Wrap a band-aid around any rings you can't take off.  This is to prevent the possibility (however small) of scratching the tea bowls.  We will return to the Russells' house by 1:00, if not a little earlier.

Tuesday, Aug. 7: General Meeting.  Colton, Rm C-1, 6:30-8:00pm.

Saturday, Aug. 11:  We need three volunteer drivers with BIG vehicles to caravan up to SFO on Sat. Aug 11 to bring the Nanao group to Monterey.  There will be 16 people plus about 20 pieces of luggage.  We will meet at the Monterey Youth Center at 8:30AM.  Their flight is UA #577 departing LA at 9:10AM, arriving at SFO at 10:40AM.  We will stop for lunch at In-N-Out Burgers in Burlingame on the way home.

Meet at the Monterey Youth Center at approximately 2:00pm to meet/pick up your partner!

The Welcome Party will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 51 El Dorado Street in Monterey.  Decorate at 5:00pm.  Party is 6:00-8:00pm.  We will need to set up chairs afterward for the morning service.  The food theme for the party is Hawaiian Luau.  Contact Mrs. Pacania (Sarah's mom) with questions.  Decorations: contact Kim Jimenez (Jacob's mom).

Sunday, Aug. 12: Kayaking at Monterey Bay Kayaks.  Please turn in your signed waiver at our next meeting (Aug 7).  If you didn't get one yet, here it is.  Each person kayaking must have a waiver.  The cost is included in the program for Colton and Nanao students; however, family members are most welcome to join.  The cost is $45 (and a waiver).

Homework for Tuesday
  • Brainstorm a list of activities you might want to do with your partner!
  • Review English-Japanese phrasebook, think of other phrases you think you might need.  Submit to Dana by email so he can add them.
See you all on Friday for tea!
