Soroptimists/Ipponsugi Street

Today was a leisurely day in that we did not travel far.  We met at the regular time at City Hall, then traveled by bus to a youth retreat center in the nearby mountains where the Soroptimist International group hosted us for a morning and afternoon of fun activities: the making of soba noodles from scratch and a koi fishing tournament!  Lots of fun was had by all.  Afterward we rode the bus back into town for more hands-on activities of gold leaf applique, grinding (and drinking) roasted green tea, and the making of incense potpourri satchets of Chinese herbal scents.

Typhoon #19

Today is yet another beautiful day, but another typhoon is heading for Japan, #19.  While the storm is currently centered near Okinawa, it is not predicted to reach the Nanao area until Tuesday or Wednesday.  We are expecting good weather today and tomorrow with afternoon showers on Sunday as we ride the train to the Kansai airport.

Kanazawa

This morning dawned bright and sunny for our trip to Kanazawa to visit Myoryuji Temple (the Ninja Temple), ramen and gyoza (potstickers) for lunch, a walk through an samurai village and running around on the lawn of Kanazawa Castle.
