Tea Ceremony Friday, July 22, 12:45-2:45PM

Tea Ceremony

Date: Friday, July 22
Time: 12:45PM-2:45 PM
Where: Russells' residence (901 Alameda Ave, Monterey)

We will be meeting at the Russells' home at 12:45PM then leave shortly before 1:00 for the tea ceremony in Pebble Beach.  The ceremony itself will start at 1:30 and will last until about 2:30.  I expect we will be back at our house by 2:45.

Please dress nicely, but comfortably with clean, all-white socks.  Remove dangly earrings, necklaces, and bracelets.  Also remove, or don't wear, large or flashy rings.  For those with long hair, please tie it up or back to prevent it from falling in your tea bowl when you bow!

Parents, we will need drivers to help car pool everyone.  Of course, you can participate in the tea ceremony!  Many past parents have said this experience is similar to going to a spa - it is very peaceful and relaxing.  It seemingly transports you to a time and place very far away.

Last, please respond if you can or cannot attend.  I must provide the tea teacher with a headcount as she must prepare the appropriate amount of tea in advance.

Look forward to this experience, it is wonderful, unique opportunity!

Details for Bargain Fair

Here are the details regarding the Bargain Fair at the La Mesa Community Center for June 11:
  • Our unload/setup time is 6:45-7:30AM.  The event runs from 8:15AM to 12:00PM.  Please drop off your student and rummage at or before 7:00AM.  There will be a line of cars waiting to enter the parking lot, so please come early to get in line.  We will need to be super-efficient to get everything set up before the fairs opens at 8:15
  • Adult volunteers, when checking in, have a photo ID ready and our spot number memorized or written down.  Photo ID will be required at vendor check-in. If you or your helpers do not provide and ID that matches your name to our list, you or your helpers will not be allowed on the bargain fair grounds until the start of sales.  This is to ensure everyone walking around beforehand has a badge and nobody is trying to get in early to buy.  They say they can’t stress enough that EVERY ADULT needs to provide an ID and be on the list to get a badge.
  • Our stalls are #55-56.
  • The event will be held rain or shine
  • Parents are discouraged from "hanging out" in the Junior Wings stalls (by order of the organizers) until after the fair opens to the general public.  If you do not stay (and it is OK if you don't), please come back for your student at 12:00pm.
  • At 12:00pm we will transfer all unsold items to the donation truck.
  • If you can, please bring along some masking tape and markers for price-tagging.
  • Please bring a table or self-standing clothes rack (if you have one), and a plastic tarp to spread things out on the ground.
  •  Ms. Kim will have a cash box.
  • There will be limited food concessions sold at the fair by the local boy scouts.
If you have any questions, please call me at Kim Kellam at 818-645-4819.
