Dining Out Pizza Results!

The best way to tell you the results of the Dining Out event at Pizza My Way is to let the owner tell you.  Thank you, everyone, for your support!  Here is the essence of her email.

Dear Junior Wing families and Supporters: 

I am so happy to announce to you that Wednesday night fundraiser at Pizza My Way was AWSOOOOME !!!! 

Total Sale of the Night from Junior Wing was : $890 Which makes Our earning for JW $270 . ( 30% donated from PMW). And as a Support For our Junior Wing program , and as a thank you for all the families that supported the program and Pizza My Way ,We (at Pizza My Way) are Donating $100 Extra  which will make our 

Total Earning  $370 .

Junor Wings invited to perform at Monterey-Nanao Sister City 20th Anniversary Welcome Party!

A delegation of Nanao City officials and citizen representatives will be visiting Monterey September 20-24 and Junior Wings has been invited to participate in and be a part of, the festivities

The president of the Monterey Peninsula-Nanao Friendship Association, former Monterey mayor Dan Albert, has invited the Junior Wings students to perform their Greeting Song for the Nanao delegates at the official Welcome Reception.

Here are the details:

• When: Monday, September 21 from 5:30-7:30pm
• Where: House of Four Winds, 540 Calle Principal, Monterey

Parents, the event is being hosted/sponsored by the Monterey Peninsula-Nanao Friendship Association, of which Junior Wings is a member.  Appetizers and local wines will be served.  Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided for the students and those preferring such.

The program for the event will be informal with a few short words of welcome from the current mayor and a few others.  We will plan to perform our Greeting Song at approximately 6:00pm, or shortly thereafter.  Many of the members of the Nanao delegation will be the same people we will meet in Nanao when we visit the mayor's office there. 

Students, plan to wear khaki pants and either your Junior Wings T-shirt, or your polo shirt if we have them by then.

This will be a fun event, and you are welcome to stay/leave as you like once our performance is over.

Fieldtrip to San Jose Japantown

Saturday, September 12:

Itinerary:

• 9:00AM: Meet at Monterey Youth Center, car pool
• 10:30-12:00: Walking tour of Japantown (Nijiya Market, Nichibei Trading, San Jose Tofu, Shoei Manju)
• 12:20-1:20: Mitsuwa Marketplace at Strawberry Plaza (grocery store, bookstore, Daiso (Japanese "dollar" store)
• 1:30-2:30: Ringer Hut Family Restaurant (lunch provided for students)
• 2:30-3:45: Return to Monterey

Preparation: read History of San Jose Japantown (see back for directions)

Note: Parking will be difficult at Mitsuwa Marketplace.  Find a space where you can, then meet us in front of the Mitsuwa Grocery store.

September 9 is Dining Out at Pizza My Way!

Wednesday, September 9, all day, Pizza My Way in Pacific Grove at 1157 Forest Avenue  is contributing 30% of their sales from dine-in, take-out, and delivery (to their designated area) to go towards Junior Wings. 

Please let all of your family and friends know to go that day and buy a pizza.
