Homework for Aug. 30 Meeting

Monday Morning

The car caravan leaves the Youth Center at 8:00AM.  Please arrive as close to 7:30 as you can.  We must distribute students and luggage between 4-5 cars and 1 truck.  And, we'll want to take a lot of last photos.  This will quickly take up the 30 minutes.  The caravan must leave promptly at 8:00.

Friday Pick-up: Aquarium, 5:30

A slight change to the pick-up location for today (Friday).  Please pick-up at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, like the other day.  The bus drop-off/pick-up side opposite the entrance.  5:30pm.  I will be there today. They students are to gather by 5:00pm.  If you want to earlier and find your student and go, that's fine.  If you can't find me personally, text/call to check out so we don't go looking.  Thanks.

The Nanao students will be at the aquarium/Cannery Row all day today, so the Nanao chaperones thought it would best to pick up the stuents there.  It will save them from having to walk back to the Youth Center.

So, 5:30 at the aquarium.  I will see you all there.  Remember, Saturday is a free day to do as you like.  Have them dressed and at the Youth Center by 6:00pm on Sunday.  I say dressed because the Nanao students have brought jimbei for the boys and yukata for the girls.  Both/all students should wear these outfits.

Thursday Pick-up: Del Monte Shopping Center Starbucks 5:30pm

The fire in Big Sur is preventing the bus from going down to the River Inn in the Big Sur Valley.  Subsequently, the Nanao JW plan has been changed.  They will be spending more time at the Del Monte Shopping Center.  The bus will be released so we are to pick up the students in front of Starbucks at 5:30. 

You may pick up your student earlier than 5:30 if you wish, but please check out with the chaperones at Starbucks before you leave.

Pickup Update

Latest news...ETA is right about 6:00...but it seems like the bus driver is really flying, so maybe a couple of minutes before.

Wednesday Pickup from San Francisco

The bus left the Golden Gate Bridge about 3:00 and they are now working their way home.  Traffic willing they may arrive as early as 5:30, but closer to 6:00 is probably more likely.  I will update this post if I get news of a change in their estimated arrival time.

2016 Junior Wings Welcome Party!

Our Partners have finally arrived! We set up the JACL this morning, then drove to Monterey Airport to meet our partners. We headed back to JACL for the welcome party and got to know each other a little bit better. Fun was had and friendships were formed! Here's to an amazing week!

Welcome Weekend Schedule

Saturday

• 9:00AM:  Meet at JACL Hall (424 Adams St. in Monterey) to decorate hall, receive t-shirts and name cards
• 9:45AM: Drive to Monterey Airport
• 10:25AM: Greet flight, meet partners
• 10:45AM: Pick up luggage, return to JACL Hall
• 11:00AM: Welcome Party
• 12:45PM: Clean up
• 1:00PM: Take partner home

Sunday

• 9:00AM:  Meet at Monterey Bay Kayaks
• 10:00AM: Begin kayak tour
• 12:00PM: End kayak tour
• 6:00PM Beach party (see email thread for details)

Nanao JWs have arrived in LA!

Your partners are almost here!  I received word that the Nanao JW group has arrived in LA safely.  They are tired, of course, but excited to be there.  They will be spending ALL day at Disneyland today.  Then they'll be up bright and early Saturday to make their way to Monterey and to us!
